Patsy Heart Hammonds, a courageous, resilient survivor, mother of 11 children, 6 boys and 5 girls. Born and raised in the Jim Crow South, mainly south Florida. Mama Patsy was famous for her green snap beans. Her berry pies were made from wild berries she picked from the back fields where they grew. She always advised her children and grandchildren to eat right. She encouraged them to grow their own food. She insisted they eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. Later in life, Mama Patsy shared her life stories. She shared her warmth and knowledge. She was found living with her children’s families throughout Florida. She joined the ancestors in August of 1987.
