Queen Mother Moore, born Audley Moore, was an African civil rights leader. She was a stalwart communist and a Pan Africanist revolutionary. She allied with civil rights leaders like Marcus Garvey, Nelson Mandela, Winnie Mandela, Rosa Parks, and Jesse Jackson. She founded the African American Cultural Foundation, Inc., which led to the fight against usage of the slave term “Negro”. Mother Moore founded the Republic of New Afrika and was revered as the “Mother” of the modern Reparations Movement. Moore’s legacy is one of unwavering commitment to justice. This legacy serves as a beacon for those continuing the fight against racism and inequality. In honoring her memory, we recognize the indelible mark she left on the civil rights movement. We also acknowledge her impact on the ongoing quest for a more just and fairer world.
