Octavia Todd was an educator, social worker, and community activist. She attended Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, earned a BS Degree and Life certificate to teach English and Business Courses.  Todd moved to San Diego in 1972 and began teaching at Abraham Lincoln High School in 1973. She performed volunteer services at the Community Hospital of San Diego for many years, was very active in her community. She was a full-time teacher and enjoyed substitute teaching until the age of 90. She was affectionately called ‘Mother Todd’ by many members of her church. Todd was a strong advocate and Lifetime member of the Friends of Malcolm X Library and Performing Arts Center.  In 2013 at the age of 91, Todd moved to Texas.
