Barbara E. Brown, community activist, teacher, and owner of the Pyramid Book store in San Diego. She was a member of the San Diego Urban League and the Pan African Association. Jihmye Collins, founding member of the African American Writers and Artists (AAWA), described Ms. Barbara Brown as the ‘Organizational Mother’ of the African American Writers and Artists – San Diego. Ms. Brown hosted Ms. Rosa Parks book signing on February 2nd, 1992. The line was down the street around the corner. This picture was taken in Martin Luther King Park at the 1991 African Liberation Day Community Bike Ride and Rally. The event was hosted by the Pan African Association of San Diego.
