Afeni Shakur, born Alice Faye former Black Panther, political activist and mother of rap legend Tupac. Shakur was part of the Panther 21 who were jailed in 1969 facing bombing charges in New York. She and the other members of the Panther 21 group were eventually acquitted after an eight-month trial. They were released from prison in May 1971. The next month, she gave birth to Tupac in Harlem, New York on June 16th, 1971.
