Pat Chin, born in Jamaica, was a fearless Marxist fighter. She dedicated much of her life to showing solidarity with the Haitian people’s fight for liberation. They struggled against French colonialism and U.S. neocolonialism. Chin was a national committee member and contributing editor of Workers World Party. She moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. in the early 1960s. She traveled to Cuba several times, starting out as a member of the Venceremos Brigade. She came out as a lesbian in the early 1970s. This was after the Stonewall rebellion. She was a founding member of Salsa Soul Sisters. This organization is mainly for Black, Latina, and other lesbians of color.
